Project summary

Design a dashboard that will enable data from various surveys commissioned by Paths for All to be easily used by staff across the organisation for various purposes.

How will this project benefit the organisation?

A dashboard will make it easier for the organisation to demonstrate the impact of their work, which will strengthen their case for future funding, and enable them to do more impactful delivery with their available resources.

Project description

Paths for All want everyone to have the opportunity to walk every day, creating a happier, healthier and greener Scotland. They want to increase the number of people walking every day to improve wellbeing and prevent ill health. They also work to ensure outdoor environments in Scotland are welcoming, safe and encourage physical activity.

Paths for All regularly carries out a public attitudes survey about walking. They have also recently completed a follow-up survey for people from ethnic minority backgrounds. There is a need for staff to be able to access the most up-to-date data in order to answer any questions they have around what both motivates and discourages more walking, provide evidence for engagement work, and to shape the delivery of activities and use the data for funding proposals.

The volunteer will need to have experience in dashboard design and work closely with the Information and Data monitoring officer. As well as investigating the current survey data, the volunteer should examine potential platforms for a dashboard to display the data, such as Power BI and R. The volunteer should then discuss options with the client before designing the dashboard and outlining potential cost for the systems (one off and ongoing, including user licenses).
