Professor of Operational Research, Nottingham University Business School Research: OR in healthcare, personnel scheduling, manufacturing and logistics

Professor Christina Pagel

President Elect/ EDI Representative 

Professor of Operational Research at University College London, using mathematical tools to support the delivery of health services. Her projects include delivery of intensive care services, specialised services such as congenital heart disease, and broader areas of health policy such as pandemic preparedness, services for children with complex needs, and communication of science

Dr Stephen Lorrimer

Vice President/Chair of Publicity, Membership & Website Committee 

After an early career in physics, Stephen joined the Government Operational Research Service, working first in DWP and then DHSC. Later he moved to NHS England, leading the Analysis & Insight for Finance team.

Dr Duncan Robertson

Vice President

Senior lecturer in management sciences at Loughborough Business School and a Fellow of St Catherine’s College, University of Oxford. His background is in natural sciences, with a first degree in physics from Imperial College London, qualification as a Chartered Accountant in the City of London, and a DPhil from Said Business School, University of Oxford. His research analyses organizational strategy and public policy through a range of modelling techniques, with latter work on science communication and the use of experts.

Bob Scott

Fellow of ORS, Honorary Treasurer

Retired CMO in IT services. Responsible as Chair Finance and Investment Committees and serves on Nominations and PMW Committees.

Professor Thomas Archibald

Chair of the Publications Committee

Professor of Business Modelling at the University of Edinburgh Business School. His research focuses on applications of stochastic modelling to support decision-making.

Miguel Anjos

Chair of the OR Society Research Committee

Miguel Anjos is Chair of Operational Research at the University of Edinburgh. His research is on mathematical optimisation and its industrial applications. He is the Founding Academic Director of the Trottier Institute for Energy at Polytechnique Montreal, Canada. Miguel is a Fellow of the Academy of Mathematical Sciences, the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Higher Education Academy, and EUROPT. 

Katherine Kent

Chair of Events Committee

Katherine is joint head of profession for OR at the Office for National Statistics, based in Newport, Wales where she leads on measuring UK public service productivity. Katherine is chair of the Events Committee and Chair of the Women in OR and Analytics Network (WORAN).

 

Professor Jacco Thijssen

Chair of the Education Committee

Professor of Mathematical Finance at the University of York and Visiting Professor at ISEG, Lisbon School of Economics and Management, University of Lisbon. His main research interests are investment under uncertainty ("real options") and mechanism design.

Dr Christina Phillips

Board Trustee/ SIG Representative 

Christina is a Senior Lecturer in Business Analytics at Liverpool John Moores University. Her research focuses on Human Centric Analytics (HCA) design in industry and education and she uses the ideas to improve analytics integration as a consultant and teacher. Her work has spanned healthcare, transport, manufacturing and government.

Mosab Bazargani

Board Member

Dr Mosab Bazargani is a Lecturer in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at Bangor University, specialising in large-scale industrial optimisation and the practical application of Operational Research in complex, real-world systems. Prior to joining academia, he worked as an Operational Research Data Scientist at Tesco, contributing to one of the company’s largest nationwide distribution optimisation programmes, and as a Data Analytics Contractor at Marsh McLennan.

Sarah Davies

Head of Membership & Marketing

Leading membership engagement and marketing. Promoting community growth through events, training and membership, increasing the Society's visibility and reach. 

Carol McLaughin

Head of Professional Services

Leads and manages education, publications, and awards. Overseeing a small team contributing to strategy and budget development.
