Strong Results Across the OR Society's Journal Portfolio

The latest journal metrics have illustrated the continued strength and increasing influence of The OR Society's publishing portfolio.

Journal performance is commonly assessed using two complementary measures. The Journal Impact Factor reflects citations to articles published over the previous two years, while CiteScore measures citations over a four-year period. Together, they provide an indication of both a journal's recent performance and its longer-term influence.

This year's results were particularly encouraging for two of the Society's newer journals.

Health Systems (HS), led by Editors-in-Chief Antuela Tako, Daniel Gartner, Ann Fruhling and Samir Chatterjee, continued its rising trend, with its Impact Factor increasing to 2.2. The journal also achieved an important milestone by moving from Q4 to Q3 in the Health Policy & Services category. Its CiteScore increased to 3.9, indicating increasing recognition and influence within the field.

The Journal of Business Analytics (JBA), led by Editors-in-Chief Dursun Delen, Sudha Ram and Ali Emrouznejad, also recorded strong progress. Its Impact Factor increased to 1.9 and its CiteScore rose from 3.7 to 4.5. Especially noteworthy was the journal's achievement of a Q1 ranking for the first time, an important milestone that indicates its growing reputation and standing within the research community.

The Society's established journals continued to perform strongly. The Journal of the Operational Research Society (JORS) retained its Q1 position within its subject categories, underlining its strong reputation as one of the leading journals in the field. Meanwhile, the Journal of Simulation (JoS) enjoyed success, with its CiteScore increasing from 3.6 to 5.1 and achieving its best quartile ranking.

Elsewhere in the portfolio, Knowledge Management Research & Practice (KMRP) achieved its highest-ever CiteScore, while the European Journal of Information Systems (EJIS) maintained its position among the leading journals in its subject areas. Overall, five of the Society's six indexed journals saw an increase in CiteScore in 2025.

These achievements demonstrate the commitment and hard work of all our editors, editorial boards, reviewers and authors. Their collective efforts ensure that The OR Society's journals continue to publish high-quality research that advances knowledge and demonstrates the impact of Operational Research, analytics, information systems and related disciplines across academia, industry and the public sector.

The Society congratulates everyone involved in these successes and looks forward to seeing the sustained growth and impact of its journals in the years ahead.
