Mathematical Modeller

Mathematical modellers apply their expertise in modelling, simulation, and statistical techniques to support analytical teams and wider programmes of work. They may work in dedicated modelling teams or as part of multidisciplinary groups, using quantitative methods to solve complex problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply analytical models, often using spreadsheets, databases, and other numerical tools. Identify, process, and analyse complex datasets, integrating multiple sources of evidence.
  • Use a range of modelling software and statistical packages to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Establish and follow protocols for developing and managing models effectively.
  • Produce and communicate analytical insights, ensuring findings are accessible to a range of stakeholders.

Mathematical modellers typically have experience in a numerate role or hold a qualification in a quantitative subject. They are familiar with mathematical modelling tools and techniques, applying them to real-world challenges across various sectors.
